Description
Watercolor on cold-pressed 140 lbs, July 2012.
This cactus flower is so bright green it's practically neon. To capture the right color I ventured out of my pigment safety zone of Ultramarine Blue into the unexplored depths of Pthalo Green :scared: In fact, this is probably one of only two paintings in my entire gallery not to feature a single molecule of Ultramarine. Anyway, I'm pleased with how it turned out - I'll have to shake things up more often.
Update: Changed the title of the piece after realizing that I'd identified it as the wrong species of cholla. (D'oh!)
